Play with a purpose.
Games are fun, and they work best when you choose them on purpose. A few ways to get more from every round.
- 1
Play to your weak spot
Pick the game for the skill that cost you most in your last mock test or level check, not the one you are already good at.
- 2
Read the explanation, even when you are right
A lucky right answer teaches nothing. The explanation tells you why, and that is what you remember next time.
- 3
Come back in a few days
Each round draws fresh questions. Playing the same game again after a short break is how a new habit sticks.
- 4
Turn the sound on
The listening and dictation games are read aloud by your browser, so check your volume first.
Questions.
Q1Do I need an account?
No. Open a game and play. Your best scores are kept in your own browser on this device.
Q2Will games help with IELTS?
Yes, as part of your practice. Each game trains one skill the test rewards, such as spotting paraphrase, spelling under pressure or choosing the right linking word. Use them between full mock tests, not instead of them.
Q3Why can I not hear the dictation games?
Dictation is read by your browser’s built in voices. Check that your sound is on. If your device has no English voice, the game tells you so and lets you skip those items.
Q4Are the questions the same every time?
No. Each round draws a fresh set from a bank of questions, so playing a game again is still useful practice.
