Write better answers.
Most marks are lost before the first sentence is written. Four habits that examiners notice.
- 1
Plan for five minutes
Decide your position, your main points and your paragraphs before you write. A clear plan saves more time than it costs.
- 2
Answer every part of the question
Many Task 2 questions ask two things. Underline each one and make sure your essay answers both.
- 3
Watch the word count
Task 1 needs at least 150 words and Task 2 at least 250. Writing far more rarely helps and leaves less time to check.
- 4
Compare, do not copy
Read the model answer after you write, and notice one thing it does that yours did not. Use that in your next answer.
Questions.
Q1Are these real IELTS questions?
They are original questions written by LEAD Linguistic in the style of the test, on the topics that come up most often. They are not official IELTS papers.
Q2Should I read the model answer first?
Write your own answer first, then compare. A model answer is most useful when you can see exactly where it does something your answer did not.
Q3Is my writing saved?
Your draft is saved in your own browser on this device, one draft per task, so you can come back to it. Nothing is uploaded to us.
Q4Can someone check my essay?
Yes. Send it to us on WhatsApp and we will tell you how writing feedback works with us.
